History

1980’s

The Business was formed in 1981 “The Business” was formed by Pat Farrell, Tommy Moore, Don Baker, Errol Walsh and Fran Breen.
All of whom, were regulars on the Irish blues music scene.

After a couple years of constant performing around the country the band released their first single in 1984. “Let Me In” was composed by band members Don Baker and Dave Murphy.

The single was recorded in Windmill Lane Sudios and was backed up by another band composition
“Been Alone too Long”.

Hot on the release of their first single, the Business played support to the legendary B.B. KING to a crowd of thousands in the National Stadium.

The Business performed an open air concert for Radio 2 at Trinity College, Dublin to a very lively Dublin crowd. During this time the band had two
residencies, Slatterys of Capel Street and The Belvedere Hotel, Denmark Street.

The Business shared the stage with the talented multi-instrumentalist Spencer Davis at Dublin’s Liberty Hall in 1986.

1990’s

1994: The Business were part of the very popular “Temple Bar Blues festival” which included performances by Rory Gallagher, BB King, Buddy Guy and Robert Cray playing to thousands of onlookers in Dublin.

In 1995, the Business decided to release their first album, a live recording of the Band to a packed audience in fans. “Live in Dublin” was recorded in Fitzsimons, Temple Bar the album featured the talents of James Delaney on keyboards, Noel Bridgeman on percussion and vocals, John Quearney on bass and vocals
and Pat Farrell on guitar and vocals.

While promoting their live album the Business found time to perform at the open air Stardust Memorial Park festival.

1996 marked the 15th anniversary of the Business and nearly all the businessmen
rejoining the all star line up to celebrate in style with a huge stage performance in the
Everyman club. The set list on the night was a trip down the blues memory lane
culminating in a full stage with all the band members performing together.

2000’s

The New Millennium
In 2004 the band were joined by Grammy nominated Canadian blues legend Jeff Healy for a stunning performance together.

In 2006 the Business performed with legendary Chicago blues guitarist John Primer from Muddy Water’s band and received rave reviews.

In 2007, the band performed with another Chicago blues guitarist Carlos Johnson in the Bleu Note on Capel Street. A few weeks later delighted fans gave the band a standing ovation after performing a house record-breaking ‘four hour’ gig at the last minute.

In 2007 Fran Breen and Tommy Moore founding members of the Business bring the history of the band full circle by rejoining the line up.

2007, the Business launched their website.

In 2009 Pat Farrell launched his first solo album in Whelans, Dublin to a packed crowd. Riff It Avenue.


2010’s

The Business traveled to Russia for a series of Gigs.

Throughout the tens the Business continued to perform across Ireland.

Pat’s Riff it Avenue album was made available on all major digital streaming services.
